Sitges Carnival 2020
Once again, Sitges is preparing for one of its craziest parties; its well known, prestigious carnival. If you come to do a visit between February the 20th and 26th or you are already here, keep reading because we are going to give you a summary of the things you cannot miss on these days.
Sunday, February 16th
1st Drag Queen Gala of the Sitges Carnival. A new drag queens contest that will take place in La Fragata (facing the sea) in which singers, dancers and the kids carnival queen will participate.
Thursday, 20th
“Arrival” of Carnestoltes. With the carnival king’s arrival, the party officially begins. That’s why he comes stomping, as always, between music, confetti, glitter and lots of party.
Saturday, 22nd
Costume bed race. The contestants build beds on wheels, which have a theme and have to win a race through the streets of Sitges. Fun is guaranteed, whether you participate or if you are watching!
Sunday, 23rd
Rúa Infantil and Rúa de la Disbauxa. The first is during the day and the second when the night begins, they are two parades of dozens of floats with music, stunning costumes and dances in which you won’t stop dancing and get amazed with the amounts of sequins and feathers that you’ll see. For some reason it is one of the best carnivals in Spain!
Tuesday, 25th
Rúa infantil and Rúa del Extermini. With a rest day in between, the Sunday scenario is repeated again. In case we hadn’t had enough, we have a second and last chance to give it everything!
Wednesday, 26th
Burial of Carnestoltes. Another parade that features the king’s float, but on its way to be buried on the beach. A show that simulates the cremation of his grave in which all his crew participate, dressed in black because of the mourning. A beautiful farewell ritual for a beautiful days of music, party and fun.
