Diary of events – Sitges 2020

Happy New Year to everyone! We hope you are all ready for the new decade because, once again, we bring you a brief but very useful summary of everything you cannot miss throughout this year in Sitges.

It’s already known that Sitges is a town in which it is impossible to get bored (try it if you don’t believe us), so we are leaving here a small list ordered chronologically for you so you can use it as a guide when you have to decide when to visit us.

  1. Carnival (February 20th-26th). The Sitges carnival has been a hallmark of the town for many years now, thanks to its endless catwalk carriages between the best samba and the most elaborated costumes. If you have never been, you can’t miss it another year!
  2. Vintage car rally (March 21st-22nd). Whether you like cars or not, get ready to be amazed. Dozens of classic cars make their way from Barcelona to Sitges along the coast road, and also the drivers and their companions dress for the occasion.
  3. Gay Pride (June 3rd-7th). Sitges is known worldwide for its cultural variety and its large LGBT+ community, factors that contribute to a week of exceptional pride that keeps on surprising us even more every year. Beach parties, concerts, shows and attendees from all around the world categorize it as one of the best Prides.
  4. Corpus (June 14th). This religious character tradition has been celebrated for thousands of years and remains intact. You’ll see the streets of Sitges are covered with flower carpets with stunning designs made from all kinds of flowers, plants and seeds (mainly carnations).
  5. Festa Major (August 19th-26th). The largest of the Sitges parties, traditional and revered by the inhabitants of Sitges. From the smallest kid to the already veteran inhabitant parade to the rhythm of the timbale and the “grallas”, doing folk dances typical of the Catalan lands. You won’t miss the “castells” or human towers, or fireworks on the summer night of August 23rd.
  6. Santa Tecla (dates to be confirmed). Like the Festa Major, but in which the little ones are the protagonists. Even so, there is no shortage of concerts and parties in which we all participate.
  7. Cheese Fest (dates to be confirmed). A new event that has us all going crazy; a festival dedicated exclusively to cheese and the artisan world that surrounds it and its faithful companions: good wine, bread, sausages and jam… a true delight.
  8. International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia (October 8th-18th). Mythical and known all around the world, in this festival you can find your favorite actors and directors or attend an exclusive movie premiere.

We hope this list is useful for you to organize your vacation or simply contemplate all the fun you’re going to have. If you still don’t know when is the best time to come to enjoy your vacation, we’ll be pleased to help you find it.
