Sitges Film Festival 2019
As we said in our previous post, the end of summer and the return to routine in Sitges have no power against our fanned events calendar. We are happy to announce that… the film festival has come!
This year, celebrating its 52nd edition, from October 3rd to 13th Sitges will welcome more than 200,000 visitors from all around the world, among which are a variety of artists, creators, and above all, lovers of fantasy and horror movies. As a theme, this 2019 the festival pays tribute to Mad Max.
First celebrated in 1968 as a Fantasy and Horror Film Festival, it has gained a great and deserved reputation over the years, becoming one of the reference festivals for the world of audiovisual production throughout all these years. After welcoming great legends as Quentin Tarantino, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster, Ralph Fiennes, George A. Romero, Cameron Diaz, Ray Liotta… there is always a great expectation regarding the guests of the next year.
We must remember that we’re not talking about a conventional film festival, the Sitges festival specializes in the fantastic and horror genre, and that makes it really special: in addition to offering various bonuses for all types of film lovers, you can also attend the long horror movie marathons that are screened even when everyone’s sleeping.
This year, in addition to the constant projection of premieres and marathons of films and shorts in several rooms, we can also enjoy the large repertoire of parallel activities that are prepared. Free outdoor short films in Plaza Catalunya, a Fnac tent where dozens of books and new projects will be presented in relation to terror and fantasy, various exhibitions, contests and others. Like every year, there’s a big party coming!
