Tango Festival 2017
The international tango festival has been around since 1993, making it one of the biggest events of the genre in the world. Thanks to the Barcelona tango club association, Sitges became the world capital during this time of year.
Last year, during the tango festival, some activities were free and open to the public in some of the most iconic places of Sitges: San Sebastian beach, the church square and as well on the promenade. During this festival, couples or pairs are invited to learn the passionate dance of tango and to see professionals performing as well as some live bands.
The festival starts Wednesday, July 12th with the Camilo Tango show, it will be performed at 21:30 in “El Retiro” which is located in Carrer d’Angel Vida. On Thursday the 13th a personal coach is available during an hour starting at 4 pm, classes and the dance on the beach happen between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. At 9:30 pm a special appearance of Maestro Dj Gus, where he will perform at “El Retiro”.
The international tango festival then continues Friday until Sunday with a variety of activities and special guest appearances from both dancers and musician. On Friday the classes will be between 12:30 am and 6:30 pm. On Saturday they will be between 2 pm and 6:30 pm. Finally, on Sunday classes will be from 12:30 am to 3 pm. All classes are done inside “El Retiro”.
The tango on the beach will be at the same time every day and performed on the beach of San Sebastian.
